Famous Lakes In India


 Wular Lake:

The Wular Lake is situated 32 Kilometers from Srinagar. It is the largest lake in the Jammu and Kashmir region. It also controls the flow of the Jhelum River, which passes through it.


Chilka Lake:

It is located on the east coast of Odisha, Chilika Lake is the largest brackish saltwater lagoon in Asia. It is also a home to many varieties of birds.


Sambhar Salt Lake:

The Sambhar Salt lake is the larges inland salt lake in Rajasthan, India. The lake's bed is covered in salt sheets which looks like snow from a distance. The lake remains dry during the summer months. The lake's shore is lined with slat pans and refining works. 


Kolleru Lake:

Located in Andhra Pradesh, Kolleru Lake is the largest freshwater lake of India. Lying between the deltas of the Krishna River and Godavri River, it acts as a reservoir to control floods. It is an important habitat for migratory birds.

A Treasure Trove 6,500m Below Sea Level

A US navy destroyer that was sunk during the World War  ll  and was found by an American exploration team. They stated that the destroyer was lying 6,500 Meters below the sea level.     The 115-Meter-long ship was sunk on October 25,1944 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf as US forces fought to liberate the Gulf as US forces fought the Philippines- then a US colony- from Japanese occupation. Smallest and largest river islands in the world.

  It is interesting to know that both the world's largest and smallest river islands are situated in the Brahmaputra river in Assam. The smallest one is called UMANANDA (Also called Peacock Island) and the largest is known as MAJULI .   These islands attract visitors from every corner of the globe. Some people say that Lord Shiva created the Peacock island for his wife Parvati’s happiness. The island was also very popular for it's golden langurs, which is one of the most endangered primate species of India (The last one surviving is now reportedly dead). The main attraction of the Umananda island is the Umananda Temple which was built in 1694CE  in the order of King Gadadhar Singha but was broken down by an earthquake in 1867.  Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India. It is now being eroded at a very great speed.

   The Forbidden City: It served as the palace for both Ming and Qing emperors and was built and successfully established in Beijjing by the Ming emperor Zhu Di, between 1406 and 1420. The palace was given such distinctive name because it was forbitten for the common people to come there, even , limited royal families were allowed to come. Most of the complex of this palace faces to the south to honour the sun. The Palace Of Versailles:  The Palace Of Versailles was located about 16 Kilometers South-West of Paris, is one of the Most absurd buildings of the world. It was an official residence of the Kings of France from 1682 to 1789. It was restored after the French Revolution took a toll and the palace was then converted into a museum.
